What to see

Lapped by the waters of the Adriatic Sea, and easily connected to the most interesting Italian art cities, the town of Riccione becomes an ideal holiday resort for those who want to discover the wonders of “Bel Paese” – Italy, or simply desire to go deep into the knowledge of a warm land, that of Romagna, which invites people with delicious smells coming from local kitchens.

The town is elegant and friendly. The street furnishing is well-kept and in harmony with the colours of the beach, the morning sea breeze catches people on the shore, from where they can enjoy the panorama or go on walking to the downtown, strolling along streets full of shops, restaurants, and with a wide range of accommodation types to suit all visitors’ needs. The Liberty style villas dating back to the first years of the twentieth-century remind visitors of the time of pioneer tourists.

The name (in local pronunciation Arcaton) comes from the Greek and Byzantine occupation dated back to the sixth century AD: "Archeion" is the name of a plant, the burr, which still grows spontaneously in some areas of the beach now occupied by the bathing establishments but which was once abundant on the desert shore of Riccione.
