To be welcomed with a smile and to enjoy your holidays with your "best friends", just remember to bring with you a sanitary card and a vaccination record card in order, and do not forget the muzzle at home!
The Bathing Ordinance No. 1 of 2020 (valid from 23rd May to 25th October 2020) allows, under the direct responsibility of the owner of the dog and under his constant supervision, access to the beach in the bathing establishments equipped for the reception of dogs and on free beaches exclusively for the dog bathing (point 34, 35, 36 of the aforementioned Ordinance). Swimming in the sea is allowed from 6 to 7.30 am and from 7 pm until sunset, in the stretch of sea in front of the following free beaches:
free beach between establishments 51 and 52;
free beach between establishments 77 and 78;
free beach between establishments 132 and 134.
There are, as you can see, several “pet-friendly” places, just pay attention to some important rules: dogs cannot be left free on the beach and are not allowed to dive in the sea. Some beaches provide small flexible showers, fresh water basins to fresh up your pets, as well as pooper-scooper and bags.

Rules to allow dog bathing in the sea:
Only by authorized establishments dogs are allowed to go into the water. The owner of the bathing establishment will have to identify both the path to reach the water mirror dedicated to this activity, and the area proper for the dogs' bath that must be limited to the water's edge. The dog must be accompanied with a leash. The swim at sea will be allowed from 8 pm to 10 pm in the presence of the owner. The immediate cleaning of any debris both on the beach and in the stretch of water concerned must also be guaranteed. This activity is allowed only by those establishments that have submitted a request (by S.C.I.A.) in relation to the water mirror to be used for bathing animals.
The order specifies that the bathing of the dogs will have to be carried out without disturbing the swimmers and without any interference or limitation to the bathing activities.

The name (in local pronunciation Arcaton) comes from the Greek and Byzantine occupation dated back to the sixth century AD: "Archeion" is the name of a plant, the burr, which still grows spontaneously in some areas of the beach now occupied by the bathing establishments but which was once abundant on the desert shore of Riccione.
