2021 World Baton Twirling Championship

In August Riccione is hosting the World Twirling Championship 

From 5th to 8th August Riccione is hosting the World Baton Twirling Championship, a discipline that puts dancing, gymnastics and coreography together. Twirling is very popular in the United States due to the cheerleading tradition and in France due to majorettes. 

World Baton Twirling Championship si scheduled for 5th to 8th August at Playhall in Riccione.

The name (in local pronunciation Arcaton) comes from the Greek and Byzantine occupation dated back to the sixth century AD: "Archeion" is the name of a plant, the burr, which still grows spontaneously in some areas of the beach now occupied by the bathing establishments but which was once abundant on the desert shore of Riccione.
